Slingshot Publications



Slingshot Publications was set up in 1993, by Martin Walker to publish his book Dirty Medicine: Science, big business and the assault on natural health care. This book which was sold by mail order went out of print in 1998 after selling 7,000 copies. It can now be obtained as an e-book. Since Dirty Medicine, Slingshot has published, a short booklet, Loic Le Ribaults Resistance. The story of the campaign to close Hillgrove cat farm, A Cat in Hell’s Chance. Republished Hans Ruesch’s famous book Slaughter of the Innocent and published Martin Walker’s SKEWED: Psychiatric Hegemony and the manufacture of mental illness in multiple chemical sensitivity, Gulf war syndrome, myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic fatigue syndrome. In October of 2005, Slingshot published Walker’s latest book, Brave New World of Zero-Risk: Covert strategies in British science policy, as a free download (about to be priced at £2.50 per download). With the exception of Loic Le Ribaults Resistance – which is presently being re-written, all these books can be bought from this site or its links.

Although Slingshot was set up with the intention of publishing activists books, beginning with Dirty Medicine, it has, recently had to restrict it’s future publications entirely to Martin Walker’s work. Although, Slingshot and Martin Walker are still happy to help and advice activists who want to tell their own stories, we can offer no commitment to helping with publication. The nature of present day publishing, with its large capital outlays together with the control exacted by the retail book outlets all make it difficult to get radical, campaigning or small quantity books sold.
